Minecraft giving purpose and perspective.

Today's generation need-not wait for gratification of their needs. Unlike their parent's Generation. Entertainment, Education, Friendships, Group Involvement, and even Shopping Needs are met with a click of a Mouse. Everything is so quickly and easily acquired that they oft become unmotivated, demonstrate a lack of perseverance, and find very little pleasure in natural experiences.

Minecraft gives players a sense of

accomplishment, achievement, and challenge.

Minecraft provides the on-going

challenge to progress, survive, and create.

Even the promise of gaming is a great motivator.

The sense of community and collaboration fulfills a desire in many.

From the safety of our homes we are able to escape into a world where we are rewarded for our efforts, able to strive to our abilities and make our imaginations tangible.

The struggle I am finding is keeping generation Z focused.

In my experience raising them and gaming with them; staying on a task and seeing it through is very difficult. They seem to get burnt-out, bored, and disenfranchised very early-on. There is so much accessible through phones, tablets, gaming systems, online, and through smart tvs. While I can envy them, being an GenXer for having so much available so quickly, I don't envy their short-term focus.

I love to start and complete a project. See it though and reflect on the journey, growth, and work put into it.

Sometimes the building is tough, but so worth the outcome. I'd say they lack vision but I hate to say that. Maybe having so much, so quickly, at the touch of a button, stunts one from sitting silently and dreaming of what could be? I'm just brainstorming in my blog. Can I do that? Does it go against some kind of blogger code? IDK and I'm not a blogger. Just a Mom who likes to study the dynamics of society.

I'm simply expressing my ponders out-loud and with a bit of frustration. My days revolve around homeschooling the young and gaming with them as well. Not a great deal of adult contemplative conversations, with others, in my life right now.

Not even sure if anyone is reading these, if you are.

Bless you!! Bless our families, our sanity, and most of all; our homeschooling journey. Such is key to the next Gens success.

♥Sara (aka: Server Mom)
